Getting started: Finding the right story and creating your world.
Kick off Crime Reading Month with the first writing workshop in our June series. With award-winning author Anna Mazzola, learn how to decide on the story you are telling and how to begin creating your world.
This fun and informal first session will cover, through discussion and writing exercises:
The rules of the crime fiction genre and its subcategories (including historical crime and police procedural)
How you find good ideas and refine them into a pitch
How you can start to turn your idea into a book
Research methods
Deciding on narrative voice, and
Creating the world of your story
No experience is necessary; this session is perfect for those who have always wanted to embark on their own crime writing journey but need the tools and confidence to begin.
